Grade 8s Applying for STEP (for September 2025)

Program – STEP (due: March 6th, 2025)

Ready to apply?  It has never been easier, just follow the steps below:

  1. Complete the Lockerby Registration and Application Form (2025 – 2026)
  2. Complete the RDSB Secondary Registration Form (REG-02)
  3. Photocopy / Scan / Forward a copy of your Final Grade 7 Report Card and Grade 8 February Report Card
  4. Complete the STEP Student Application Questionnaire (2025 – 2026) or STEP Video Submission (instructions linked here)
  5. Complete the STEP Teacher Recommendation Form (2025 – 2026)
  6. Drop-off, and/or scan & email the completed forms (checklist is part of the application package) and all Report Cards – please send any and all emails to [email protected]

STEP Options/Requirements:

  • STEP includes a French Immersion option
  • The STEP Committee will review all applications and candidates will be notified of their status (accepted/declined) by email at a later date
  • Along with good attendance, learning skills, and interest in our programming, an average of 75% or higher is required in the following courses (Science and Technology, Mathematics, Language, and Geography) in order to be eligible for STEP
  • If accepted into STEP, students receive bus transportation to the school (if living outside of the school’s catchment area)

Program – Traditional/Destreamed (due: March 6th, 2025)

Ready to register?  It has never been easier, just follow the steps below:

  1. Complete the Lockerby Registration and Application Form (2025 – 2026) 
  2. Complete the RDSB Secondary Registration Form (REG-02)
  3. Photocopy / Scan / Forward a copy of your Grade 8 February Report Card
  4. Drop-off, and/or scan & email the completed forms (checklist is part of the application package) and all Report Cards – please send any and all emails to [email protected]

Traditional Programming/Destreamed Registrants:

  • There are no academic prerequisites for this program
  • Students living in Lockerby Composite School’s catchment area are automatically registered at our school – students can remain in our school’s traditional programming or they can apply to STEP

Grade 9s - 12s Registering/Applying at Lockerby (for February 2025)

Ready to apply or register?  It has never been easier, just follow the steps below:

  1. Complete the RDSB Secondary Registration Form (REG-02)
  2. If applying to STEP, please check Science Technology Education Program box (in Education Section of second page on REG-02 form)
  3. Photocopy, scan, and/or forward a copy of your current Report Cards for all semesters/terms (and Credit Counselling Course Summary from your current school)
  4. Photocopy, scan, and/or forward a copy of the student’s Birth Certificate or Passport (for school board age verification)
  5. Photocopy, scan, and/or forward a copy of the student’s living address by way of a Utility Bill, Property Tax Bill, Residential Internet Bill, or House Purchase/Rental Agreement (for school board residency verification)
  6. Drop-off, and/or scan & email all of the completed forms and all Report Cards – please send any and all emails to [email protected]

Newcomers

All newcomers looking to register their students in Rainbow Schools are asked to make an appointment at the Welcome Centre.

The Welcome Centre is open from Monday to Friday and appointments at the Welcome Centre takes place on Mondays between 9:00am to 1:00pm.

The Welcome Centre is located at Sudbury Secondary School at the Davidson Street entrance.  Please call 705-675-0218 or email [email protected] for more information.

Welcome Centre for Newcomers

If registering/applying as a newcomer, the following documentation will be required for submission:

  1. Complete the RDSB Citizenship/Immigration Information Form (REG-04)
  2. Provide a a copy (where applicable) of Permanent Residence
  3. Provide a copy (where applicable) of Parent’s and Student’s Study Permit in addition to the Letter of Acceptance
  4. Provide a copy (where applicable) of Parent’s Work Permit and/or Guardianship
  5. Provide a copy (where applicable) of Canadian Stamped Date of Entry on Passport
