SCU Supports New Scoreboard at Lockerby Composite School!

Sudbury Credit Union has teamed up with Lockerby Composite School to support student and community athletes.  When all eyes are not on the players, they will be looking up at the new scoreboard that was recently installed in the school’s gymnasium.

The scoreboard was unveiled at noon on Thursday, March 26, 2026 followed by a game between Lockerby’s OFSAA qualified Provincial Boys’ and Girls’ Volleyball Athletes who played each other on co-ed teams.

“As a community-minded, local financial institution, guided by the principle of ‘people helping people’, Sudbury Credit Union is happy to provide a $10,000 donation towards the new scoreboard at Lockerby Composite School,” said Michael Moore, Chief Operations Officer, Sudbury Credit Union.

He added: “The school gymnasium is not only used by the students at the school, but also by many other local sports groups. The upgraded scoreboard will support sports programming for countless athletes in our community.”

Principal Ryan Lafraniere said the scoreboard has been a welcome addition to the school that will be enjoyed by generations to come.

“With this generous contribution from Sudbury Credit Union, we now have a state-of-the-art system to track games. This will be greatly appreciated by all Lockerby Vikings, visiting teams and community users in a variety of sports, from basketball to volleyball.”

With bright white numbers and letters set in an eight foot wide by six foot tall frame, the new scoreboard has found pride of place among the series of championship banners that hang in the school’s gymnasium.

“Together, the banners and the scoreboard are a testament to the vibrancy of Viking athletics, linking the past to the present,” said Principal Lafraniere. “They also bode well for the future, as we continue to prioritize athletics for student achievement and well-being.”

He added: “Engaging young people in athletics is a key component of a healthy community.”
