This is an advanced placement curriculum program, providing motivated students the opportunity to take university level academic courses while still in high school.

Lockerby is one of only 21 certified AP Capstone schools in Canada, and the only one north of Toronto.

The optimum route for university preparation, providing enriched and challenging academic courses that expand on the material covered in regular courses.

AP students are evaluated by The International College Board in Princeton, New Jersey, thereby gaining valuable experience with international exams.

AP Seminar

You will be assessed through a combination of individual and team projects and presentations as well as through a written exam.

AP Seminar is the first of two courses in the AP Capstone™ program.  AP Research is the second course.  If you earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional AP Exams of your choosing, you will receive the AP Capstone Diploma™. This signifies outstanding academic achievement and attainment of university-level academic and research skills.  Alternatively, if you earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research only, you will receive the AP Seminar and Research Certificate™. Note: AP Seminar is only available to students whose school is participating in the AP Capstone program. Learn more about the AP Capstone program.

AP Research

The course culminates in an academic paper of 4,000-5,000 words and a presentation, with an oral defense; during which you will answer 3-4 questions from a panel of evaluators.

AP Research is the second course in the AP Capstone™ program.  AP Seminar is a prerequisite for AP Research.  If you earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional AP Exams of your choosing, you will receive the AP Capstone Diploma™. This signifies outstanding academic achievement and attainment of university-level academic and research skills.  Alternatively, if you earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research only, you will receive the AP Seminar and Research Certificate™.
